Whilst not the highest scoring game of the night, Vansdirect sponsored Cardiff City took all 3 points from this rematch of last year’s FA Cup semi-final. To use an old cliche, the game was one of two halves; Cardiff showing superior skills and creativity in the first, but Barnsley commanded the second with their increased efforts.

Peter Whittingham scored the only goal of the match coming in off his wing to capitalise on a defensive error by Darren Moore on 14 minutes. This ends a run of two matches without scoring, but Jones was still disappointed by his team’s inability to close the game off with a second goal - “we should have made life easy with a second but we didn’t” he told the BBC.
The win sees the Bluebirds soar up the table into a playoff spot (6th) equal on points with QPR and Reading. For a full match report, click here
