Cardiff City, sponsored by Vansdirect, narrowly missed out on victory at the weekend after conceding a late injury-time goal.  The match was reportedly an even affair with both teams having chances on goal.  But it was the Bluebirds who again played the silky ball-on-the-ground style of football which the fans and Vansdirect have come to enjoy.

Despite numerous efforts by both teams and Blackpool having a goal disallowed for off-side, the game didn’t truly explode until deep into the second half.  Paul Parry, on as a replacement for Joe Ledley - who had missed two golden opportunities - scored what looked like the winner in the 83rd minute following Jay Bothroyd’s assist from the counter-attack.

However, the 903 travelling fans and Vansdirect were to be stunned by Blackpool substitute Alan Gow scoring deep into injury time.  The opportunity came from a failure by the Bluebird’s defence to close down on the man, giving Gow time and space to chest the ball down, turn and drill the ball past Tom Heaton.

Cardiff City manager, Dave Jones, was obviously disappointed by the result stating - ”That was hard to swallow [...] We should have closed the game down but instead for the first time in the match our defence backed off [...] The backing off meant that their player had time to chest it down, turn and shoot. It was a game we should have won.”
