Researchers have delved into the world of penalty points in a bid to see which business sector picks up the most. The statistics released make for interesting, yet some may say predictable, reading.
The figures showed that car, van and truck drivers working in consultancy, utilities and telecoms tend to have the most penalty points on their licences. Those in the financial, public and health sector have the least penalty points on their licences.

Ford has introduced several upgrades to the Transit Van and the Transit Minibus models in a bid to further improve its vans range.
The Ford Transit Van upgrade means that all van models with rear-wheel-drive from 100ps to 200ps will come with a six speed gearbox as standard from September. This change will also mean an improved miles per gallon and lower CO2 performance. The Transit Sport van has also had a slight upgrade and will come with a DAB radio as standard, making it the first medium sized van to boast this inclusion. DAB radios can be added to the Limited Transit Van model at a cost of £200.

Cummins who are best known for producing large capacity diesels, has responded to the concerns of van makers by producing and launching a range of light turbochargers designed for 2 – 5 litre van engines.
The current turbos have been slated by van manufacturers for not being durable enough for the job they are intended.
Cummins, who have 10 years experience in this field, have responded by looking into the design and the performance required by vans, and producing what they feel is an all-round better model.

New Vans on the Increase
However, it wasn’t good news for the rest of the motor industry. The registration of new cars was 20,069 in July which was a decrease of 4.4%, taking the figure to 236,629 for the rolling year.
Experts are forecasting a very slow recovery of all motor markets for this year, but are expecting 2011 to be a much better year for both new vans and new cars.
