Middle Lane Drivers
MLDs - the source of congestion and all evil
You know who you are! Everyday, when driving to the Vansdirect office, I must witness no fewer than 10 middle lane drivers along a 35 mile stretch of the M4. Effectively this three lane stretch of asphalt is reduced to a two lane carriageway because of these lazy drivers!
Predominantly MLDs are car drivers. I don’t tend to see cheap vans stuck in the middle lane questioning what that strange piece of tarmac to the left of them is. I can only presume that dotted lines scare a huge percentage of car drivers into a state of inaction. May be car drivers would prefer a soft shoulder rather than the hard one provided. Perhaps van drivers are simply better drivers or are more aware of other drivers around them. Answers on a postcard please.
So I call on the political parties listening to clamp down on MLDs. Use cameras to find the MLDs and fine them. A third offence should lead to their car (or van) being crushed and a 12 month ban! Leniency is not an option. Any one offence following a 12 month suspension should lead to the offender’s car (or van) being crushed, a 24 month ban and the offender subjected to public humiliation in the stocks!
