A recent survey carried out by Lex has identified the most boring road in Britain. The survey, which captured data from company car drivers, named the M1″the most boring road in Britain” with a 1/3 of the votes! Boredom apparently the cause of heavy traffic, the length of road and the frequency we use the road.

The results also suggest avoiding the M4, M5, M6, M40, A1, A38 and A14, for a more interesting journey. Apparently 42% of the company car drivers polled said that they “lose their concentration when driving on boring roads” and admit driving faster. Vansdirect asks the question - what was the point of the survey?! Sure, motorways are boring - we all know that. Traffic is boring - there’s nothing worse that looking out of your van’s windscreen to see the back-end of a horse or a small child picking their nose! And yes, we drive quicker on boring roads - probably because the speed limit is greater on those roads named and shamed!
But when you get in your van tomorrow, are you really going to avoid the motorway because it’s a bit tedious? No of course not - it’s still the fastest way to get a van from A to B. As a van driver, Vansdirect asks you to think positively - where would we be without 3 lanes of asphalt? Surely cruising at 70mph on a boring road is more economical and green than the stop-start of the ‘A’ and ‘B’ roads that allegedly carry more interest? It’s what your van was designed for - that’s why a new van, regardless of whether it’s a Fiat, Ford or Mercedes, comes with a radio as standard!!!
Vansdirect suggest that the boring bits are good! Nay, the boring bits are essential! The boring bits in life remind us of the good. Where would we be without half time giving us a chance to savour the second half? A plane journey takes us to foreign climes but we don’t conduct polls to complain about how boring the runway was!
So, ignore the company car driver when he starts moaning in the office about how boring his drive was. Wear a smile and celebrate the so-called “boring” roads….You know that A to B is better than C to E to Q to B…..You are a van driver and made of sterner stuff.
