Swans By A Feather
Swansea 1 - 0 Cardiff City

McPhail sees red for 2nd challenge
Cardiff City, sponsored by Vansdirect.co.uk, suffered their first defeat of the season to local rivals Swansea in the 3rd round of the Carling Cup. Last night’s game, marred by the behaviour of some Swan fans after the match, was a hard fought encounter with both sets of fans providing for an electric atmosphere at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium.
The Bluebirds again dominated the match for large parts with all the early chances falling to to the lad’s adourning the blue Vansdirect strip. Rae and Bothroyd had the best of the chances with Bothroyd being denied by Swansea keeper Dorus de Vries and indeed by the off-side flag.
However, the Swans also had thier fair share of chances with a deflected Jordi Gomez free kick on 57 minutes scoring the winning goal.
McPhail picked up a controversial second yellow deep into the second half and saw red ultimately making the comeback impossible. Jones conceded that his team “didn’t play as well as we can do and Swansea deserved the victory.”
“We made too many mistakes and it was our worst performance of the season, we lost our shape and discipline. We have no complaints, we should have been better, but we got carried away with the occasion. We spoke about not getting the crowd up but we did.”
Not to worry, the Vansdirect team can always get their revenge in the Championship!
