Nissan Commercial 8th June, 2009

Another Ad Break

At Vansdirect, when we’re not busy finding cheap vans to sell, or indeed selling those very same cheap vans, we’re trying to keep up with all things vans related.  Vansdirect staff read the latest journals, magazines and utilise perhaps one of the most powerful research tools today….YouTube!  We can therefore bring you van adverts from around the world - the perfect excuse for a break and a source of inspiration perhaps if you’re currently trying to decide what new van to buy (Remember, you can always call Vansdirect to help you with that problem; we have every make and model of vans for sale ready to be delivered free to your door!).  On this occasion, Vansdirect brings you a Nissan commercial which could readily appear alongside this Summer’s Transformers movie….enjoy!

Time to go Ape 15th April, 2009

Perodua UK intends to build on the success of its micro-panel van, the Piaggio Porter, and launch its arguably iconic sister; the Piaggio Ape.  The unmistakable 3-wheeler is marketed under the terms “quirky,” “unique” and “nimble” – perhaps not the most traditional USPs but certainly appropriate.

The Ape will be available in a number of guises including as a panel van, pickup and tipper.  More strange is Piaggio’s offering of a “Web” and “Cross Country” variations; a flat-bed and roll-bar clad pickup respectively.

Piaggio will use their 218cc petrol and 422cc diesel engines across the range so drivers can expect unrivalled fuel economy and cheap insurance.

Over 40 Years of the Ford Transit 17th September, 2008

Why do we love the transit?

The Iconic Ford Transit

The Iconic Ford Transit

The Ford Transit has now been in production for over 40 years!  But why do we hold such an affinity for this commercial vehicle?

Whilst the transit’s genealogy stretches back further, the first van to wear the “transit” label was the Ford Taunus Transit of 1961, a model that would continue only til 1965.  Of course, some would argue that the first transit was a race car built by the owner of a Ford dealership shortly after World War II.

Vans hit credit with crunch? 11th September, 2008

Van Registrations Fall

Transport News Network report this week on data produced by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.  These statistics apparently show “van and truck registrations down 20.7% in August” but, as also reported by Works Management, registrations are up 1.9% for the rolling year to a staggering 387,645.

The decline in van registrations accounted for much of the slump with van registrations being “down 24.7% for the month and down 0.8% to 329,092 for the rolling year”.

Van drivers the safest! 10th September, 2008

Tesco confirms what van drivers always suspected.

According to research by Tesco Van Insurance, van drivers make fewer claims than other British drivers.  In fact, the claims that are made are also smaller!

Perhaps this is because 1 in 5 van drivers have undertaken specialist training or an advanced driving course.  Allan Burns of Tesco Van Insurance said, “Van drivers are often stereotyped as rogues of the road however, our own records show that van drivers are actually very safe drivers and in our eyes they deserve a good insurance rate.”
