…an Aston Martin or a Bentley I think.  You must remember that Santa is a superstar.  The jolly red-suited man is up there with James Bond and Superman.  But this wouldn’t provide the load capacity needed. He must surely demand a mode of transport fit for such an iconic figure… a mode of transport that provides comfort for that belly like a bowl full of jelly….but one that can lug that sack of his.

Vansdirect recently reported on the SMMT’s assessment of falling car registrations during September 2008. Today, the same organisation published its assessment of the commercial vehicle market.  

In short, registrations are down 19.2% for September but down a massive 22.1% in the case of vans only.  These figures are hardly surprising, but given the apparent unwilling nature of the government to commit to any substantive rescue plans or to speculate on potential solutions, the figures do not make pleasant reading for the manufacturer or van retailer.

Catalytic Converters Targeted By Thieves

Van drivers have recently been warned by police to be careful where they leave their vehicle.  According to the Times newspaper, thieves can steal your catalytic converter in under 3 minutes!  Those sporting 4×4s are under particular threat because of the high clearance - an easy opening for even the opportunist thief.  The police cite the Mitsubishi L200, BMW X5, Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Shogun and Land Rover Discovery as the most targeted!
