What’s in a name? 17th December, 2009

A German anorak must have named the Amarok

Amarok - hunting lone hunters

Amarok - hunting lone hunters

What’s in a name?  A lot if you consider how much energy the car and van makers of this world put into it.  The Volkswagen Amarok hits the British van market in 2010 and let’s face it, the name will mean nothing to you unless you’re hot on Inuit mythology - apparently Amarok is a mythological wolf that hunts and devours those stupid enough to hunt alone at night!

Transporter S Line -V- Vito X

This should be an obvious question - which of the Volkswagen Transporter S Line or the Mercedes Vito X is the quickest round any track they’re pointed at?  Let’s face it, the Vito X has more torque than an Audi S4!  Unfortunately, these are not cheap vans (circa £28,000) and thus my request to the Vansdirect board to throw them around a track for the day was turned down (hmmph).  However, the good people at Fifth Gear, including the lovely Vicki Butler Henderson, can put this travesty to rights. So sit back and watch two non-cheap vans be driven round a track at break neck speeds to discover the result; VW versus Mercedes vans.

No Apologies 6th February, 2009

Commercial Sense

I make no apologies for my blog utilising the wonderful library that is the You Tube.  After all, how else would I bring you some of the best van adverts ever made?  I can hardly be expected to contact Ford, Renault, Volkswagen etc etc directly can I?  Ok, perhaps You Tube is a lazy-man’s tool, but it works!

Anyway…… This week Vansdirect landed some great deals on the Volkswagen Caddy, Transporter and the VW Crafter.  I’m not going to discuss their qualities or why you should buy one on this site.  If you want those kind of details visit www.vansdirect.co.uk.  However, I am going to show you a Volkswagen commercial that transcends time and language - the van barely features, but the message is clear.

Another Great Commercial

Once in a while a great TV commercial comes along which makes you stop and watch.  Today it was Volkswagen’s new commercial for their new Golf.  I could go on about the Matrix parody, or I could just let you watch it for yourself…..

Korean Manufacturer Launches iLoad

iLoad

iLoad

Another i”something”.  Apple really should apologise for the spate of i”somethings”.  Hyundai are the latest to jump on this particular band-wagon which marks their return to the British light commercial vehicle market.  Their iLoad, a medium sized panel van is designed to take on the likes of the Ford Transit and the VW Transporter.

Information about the iLoad is still somewhat sketchy but it’s likely to include Hyundai’s generous warranty scheme which could prove a top selling point.  We can tell you that the Australian version is sold with a 5 year  / 160,000km warranty.

VW Crafter with a Different Trim

Which Trim Would You Like Sir?

Which Trim Would You Like Sir?

We tried to avoid the usual cliches when headlining this story, but failed to come up with anything better (as you have just read).  So, here are the cliches:  ”cut above the rest”, “close shave”, “Short Wheel Base and Sides”.  If you can come up with any others, please post them on the comments page.

VW To Pick Up New Customers 30th September, 2008

Volkswagen Present Pick-Up Concept

VW Concept Pickup

VW Concept Pickup

Vansdirect sell a lot of pickups!  Year-on-year the demand for these commercial vehicles has grown.  These vans provide the luxury of an executive saloon but the pulling power and load carrying capability of a regular van.  The Nissan Navara, Toyata Hilux, Mitsubishi L200 and the Ford Ranger have dominated the Vansdirect sales league in this class.  VW have not even entered the race…..until now!

Vansdirect Crash Course In Languages

Poo Eine Vansdirect?!

Poo Eine Vansdirect?!

It’s safe to say that most of us are ignorant of other languages.  We know they exist and we try to speak them when desperate for the toilet or looking for the train station, but few of us embrace them.  Well, at Vansdirect, we dare to be different.  We’re not all about cheap vans and the best van deals this side of the English Channel.  Oh no, Vansdirect is a company keen to learn.
